For UAE residents, a valid UAE driving licence and Emirates ID are normally sufficient. For tourists, the driving licence requirement depends on your nationality and the country that issued your licence. How can I get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in Dubai?
If your licence requires an IDP, Carvista can assist you with arranging one, subject to eligibility and required documents. In many cases, the process can be completed within a few hours.
Can I rent a car in Dubai without a credit card?
Yes, certain Carvista rentals may be available without a credit card. This depends on the selected vehicle and booking conditions, so please check with our team before confirming your rental.
What is insurance excess in a rental car?
Insurance excess is the amount the renter may have to pay following an accident when they are liable. The applicable excess depends on the vehicle and insurance terms stated in the rental agreement.
What happens if I exceed the mileage limit?
Additional kilometres are charged according to the rate mentioned in your rental agreement. If you expect to drive more, speak with Carvista in advance about a higher-mileage package.
What fuel level should I return the rental car with?
The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level it had when it was delivered to you. Any fuel shortage may be charged according to the rental agreement.
What happens if my rental car breaks down?
Contact Carvista immediately. Our team will arrange the appropriate roadside assistance, repair or replacement vehicle depending on the situation and the terms of your rental.
Can tourists rent a car in Dubai with their home-country driving licence?
Yes, many tourists can rent and drive a car in Dubai using their home-country driving licence. Eligibility depends on your nationality and the country that issued your licence. Contact Carvista and we can confirm the requirement before booking.
What is the minimum age to rent a car with Carvista?
The standard minimum age is 25 years. Drivers below 25 may still be accepted depending on the vehicle, driving experience and management approval.
What payment methods does Carvista accept?
Carvista accepts cash, debit cards, credit cards, American Express, bank transfers and cash deposits. Payment options may vary depending on the booking and rental type.
What is SCDW or full insurance?
SCDW is optional additional protection that can reduce your insurance excess to AED 0 for covered accidents, even if you are at fault, subject to the rental agreement, police report and applicable terms and conditions.
How are Salik and Darb toll charges calculated on a rental car?
Any Salik or Darb toll crossings made during your rental are payable by the renter. Each toll crossing will be charged at the applicable toll amount plus AED 1 additional service charge per crossing, as per the rental agreement.
Does Carvista provide car delivery and pickup in Dubai?
Yes. Carvista provides vehicle delivery and pickup across Dubai, with free delivery and collection available at selected locations. Availability may depend on the vehicle, rental duration and location.
Can I extend my daily, weekly or monthly car rental?

Yes, standard insurance is included with Carvista rentals according to the rental agreement. An insurance excess may apply in case of an accident unless additional protection such as SCDW is purchased.
How many kilometres are included in my rental?
As a general guideline, Carvista rentals include approximately 200 km per day, 1,500 km per week and 4,000 km per month. The allowance may be higher or lower depending on the vehicle or offer. Your final approved mileage allowance will always be mentioned in the rental agreement.
What happens if I receive a traffic fine during my rental?
The renter is responsible for all traffic fines incurred during the rental period. Once Carvista notifies you of a fine, it must be cleared immediately, together with any applicable charges stated in the agreement.
What should I do if I have an accident in a rental car?
Contact the police and Carvista immediately. A valid police report is required for insurance claims. Do not arrange repairs yourself without approval from Carvista.
